Safe for Timber Decks
The Pique Ascent can be safely installed on a timber deck when placed on a hearth with our purpose-built insulated utility base. Rest assured knowing that our fires have been independently safety tested to AS/NZS2918 at Spectrum Labs in Auckland.

Innovative Smoke-Vent Technology
The patented Smoke-Vent Technology ensures that moments around the fire are enjoyed without unpleasant smoke. The Pique firebox is specially designed to maximise smoke extraction to allow a shorter flue than previosly possible to be used and still properly extract the smoke.
The technology works by positioning exhaust intakes at the firebox opening in locations where lazy (cold, heavy or dense) smoke escapes most outdoor fireplaces. These exhaust vents are connected to a cavity surrounding the primary flue. Heat from the inner flue warms the air in the outer Smoke-Vent cavity causing it to expand and rise. Using a phenomenon called the stack effect, this rising air creates a vacuum through the vents at the firebox opening which actively captures smoke which would otherwise escape the firebox in other open fire designs.
Built Tough for New Zealand Conditions
Pique fires are designed to be visually striking, highly functional, and built to last. Crafted for New Zealand’s coastal conditions, the outer body is made from hot-dipped, aluminium-coated steel for superior weather resistance, while the inner firebox is constructed from durable weathering steel (Corten). A high temperature black finish ensures your fire continues to look its best for years to come.

Owning a Pique Ascent Fireplace
Versatile Placement Options
Pique fires are designed for immediate placement on non-combustible surfaces, but with the simple addition of an insulated utility base and ash hearth the fireplace can be mounted on wooden decks or similar surfaces. The modular design of Pique fires uniquely allows our fire to be quickly dismantled, lifted into position by two people, then easily reassembled to get your first burn underway.
Easy Installation
Pique outdoor fires don't require expensive cranes or technicians to install the fireplace. The modular design supports easy positioning by breaking the total appliance weight into components less than 35kg. Once the fire body is lifted into position: (if applicable) replace the standard base with the insulated utility base; attach the feet and fasten down the appliance, assemble the interlocking internal panels (no fasteners required), then install and fasten the flue sections.
Clean Burning
The Pique Multi-Point Air Injection design introduces preheated combustion air into critical zones in the firebox where traditional firebox designs are prone to smouldering as the fuel burns down. This system has been designed to supply preheated air into problematic zones to enable clean smokeless burning and reduce unpleasant smouldering while being careful not to increasing the fuel consumption as seen with smokeless fire pit designs.
Weather Proofing From Top-to-Tail
All Pique fireplaces come with secure-fitting weather covers for the front firebox opening and a hinged weather cap for the flue. This shields your internal fire parts from the elements when the fireplace is not in use. Closing off the intake and exhaust of the fireplace extends the life of your investment and keeps your fire in great condition ready for the next gathering.
