Pique was born out of a true Kiwi backyard startup spirit. After the sale of Jayline Woodfires to Escea, two fire-obsessed mates decided they weren’t done yet.

Greg – the former Jayline fireplace and Broil King BBQ manager is that guy you’ll always find manning the BBQ at any backyard gathering, and Lockie – former Jayline Research & Development manager was that kid who was always playing with fire, who grew up a little, turned engineering mad scientist, and made a career out of his addiction to flames.  Between us, we’ve spent decades in the woodfire and BBQ industry, designing, building, and cooking over just about every flame imaginable. Our deep industry knowledge is coupled with a long-standing relationship with one of China’s leading woodfire factories which produces more than a third of New Zealand’s indoor and outdoor woodfires. Now, with the passion and grit of a startup, we’re not just launching another product, we’re setting out to redefine what an outdoor fireplace can be.
